The best Firestick remote app depends on the extras, since every one pairs the same way, with a four-digit code on the TV. Compare whether it needs an account, has a keyboard and voice search, and controls your other TVs. Amazon’s Fire TV app is the reference; Kliky needs no account.
Five things to check
- Account. Amazon’s app asks you to sign in with your Amazon account. Third-party apps generally do not.
- Keyboard. The main reason to use a phone at all: passwords and searches.
- Voice search. Handy when the plastic remote is the thing that broke.
- Ads and upgrades. Most third-party remotes show ads and sell an upgrade. Check what remains usable without paying.
- Other devices. If the house also has a Roku or a Samsung or LG TV, one app for all of them beats three.

What is the same in every app
The phone and the Fire TV have to be on the same Wi‑Fi, and no app can find a Fire TV that is offline or still on its first setup screen. If no app sees yours, read lost Firestick remote.
