Remote control for Google TV
Google TV is the interface on recent TVs from Sony, TCL, Hisense and others, on the Google TV Streamer and on Chromecast with Google TV. Underneath it is Android TV, and it accepts a phone as a remote on the same network.
The first time you connect, the TV shows a six-digit code and you enter it in the app. Kliky gives you directions, Enter, Back, Home, volume and playback, a keyboard, voice search and app shortcuts.
Use your phone as a Google TV remote
Google offers a virtual remote in two places. On Android, open the Google TV app, tap Connect TV, pick the device and enter the code from the screen. On iPhone, open the Google Home app, tap the device and choose Open remote. Both need a Google account.
Kliky needs no account and works the same on iPhone and Android. The phone and the TV have to be on the same Wi‑Fi.
Lost Google TV remote
With the TV or streamer on Wi‑Fi, your phone replaces the remote at once. The Google TV Streamer can also find its remote: press the button on the back of the streamer, or say “Hey Google, find my remote”, and the remote plays a sound for 30 seconds.
If the device is offline, plug a USB keyboard into the TV, or use the TV’s own remote through HDMI‑CEC, to reach the network settings.
Google TV remote not working or not pairing
Replace the batteries, then restart the TV or streamer by unplugging it for a minute. On the Chromecast voice remote, hold Back + Home for about three seconds until the light on the remote pulses, which puts it into pairing mode. On a TV, pair remotes under Settings › Remotes & Accessories.
Google TV remote and TV volume
The volume, power and input buttons on a Google TV remote control the TV or soundbar and are set up separately, under Settings › Remotes & Accessories › Set up remote buttons. From a phone, volume on a Google TV set works directly; with a streamer it depends on the TV accepting volume over HDMI‑CEC.
The Google TV app and Kliky
Kliky is an independent app, not affiliated with Google. It controls Google TV alongside Roku, Fire TV, Samsung and LG devices, so one app covers every screen in the house.
