Remote control for Android TV
Android TV is Google’s TV system, used by Sony, TCL, Hisense, Philips, Xiaomi, Sharp and many set-top boxes. Newer models show the Google TV interface on top of it. All of them accept a phone as a remote on the same network.
The first time you connect, the TV shows a six-digit code and you enter it in the app. Kliky then gives you directions, Enter, Back, Home, volume and playback, a keyboard, voice search and app shortcuts.
Use your phone as an Android TV remote, on iPhone or Android
Google’s own route depends on the phone. On Android, the Google TV app has a Connect TV button that pairs with a code. On iPhone, the remote lives in the Google Home app. Both ask you to sign in with a Google account.
Kliky works the same way on iPhone and Android and needs no account. The phone and the TV have to be on the same Wi‑Fi; a phone cannot control an Android TV over mobile data.
Android TV boxes and sticks
Boxes and sticks such as Nvidia Shield, Xiaomi TV Stick, Mi Box, onn. streaming boxes and Chromecast with Google TV are controlled the same way. The TV they are plugged into can be any brand, and Kliky lists the box and the TV as separate devices if the TV is a smart TV too.
Lost Android TV remote: connect to Wi‑Fi without it
If the TV or box is already on Wi‑Fi, your phone replaces the remote at once. If it is offline, a phone app cannot find it, and you need another way to reach the network settings.
Plug a USB keyboard or mouse into the TV. Arrow keys move, Enter selects and Esc goes back, which is enough to join a network. The button on the TV itself, usually under the logo or on the back, turns it on and switches inputs. With a box or stick, the TV’s own remote can often steer it through HDMI‑CEC.
Android TV remote not working or not pairing
Most Android TV remotes use Bluetooth for navigation and voice. Replace the batteries first, then restart the TV or box by unplugging it for a minute. To pair the remote again, open Settings › Remotes & Accessories › Add accessory and hold the pairing buttons shown in your TV’s manual; the combination differs by brand.
You can reach that menu from your phone while the remote is out of action.
Universal remotes for Android TV
Infrared universal remotes work with Android TV sets from Sony, TCL, Hisense and Philips, which have an infrared sensor. Most Android TV sticks do not, so an infrared remote does nothing for them. Universal remotes do not carry voice search. A phone app works with both over Wi‑Fi.
Google’s remote and Kliky
Kliky is an independent app, not affiliated with Google. It controls Android TV alongside Roku, Fire TV, Samsung and LG devices, so one app covers every screen in the house.
