The fastest way is a phone remote app. Install Kliky, join the same Wi‑Fi as your TV and press Allow on the TV once. If the TV isn’t on Wi‑Fi yet, use the control button under the Samsung logo to connect it first (Method 3).
- Install Kliky
- Join the same Wi‑Fi
- Pick your Samsung
1. Use a phone remote app
Every Samsung smart TV since 2016 runs Tizen, which accepts commands over your home network. A remote app gives you the full remote on your phone, plus a keyboard for passwords and searches.
- Install Kliky from the App Store or Google Play.
- Connect your phone to the same Wi‑Fi as the TV.
- Pick your Samsung from the list and press Allow on the TV prompt.
See the Samsung TV remote page for supported models.
2. Use the SmartThings app
Samsung’s own SmartThings app includes a basic remote. You’ll need a Samsung account, and the TV must already be registered to it. That’s tricky if you’ve lost the remote before setup.
3. Use the control button on the TV
Most Samsung TVs have a single control stick or button under the center of the bottom bezel or on the back right. Press it once to open a small menu. Press it briefly to move between options, and hold it to select.
4. Plug in a USB keyboard or mouse
Tizen supports standard USB and Bluetooth keyboards. Arrow keys navigate, Enter selects and Esc goes back. It’s handy for typing Wi‑Fi passwords.
5. Control it with HDMI‑CEC (Anynet+)
If a PlayStation, Xbox, Fire TV or Roku is plugged in, its controller can turn the TV on and change volume through Anynet+ (HDMI‑CEC). Enable it under Settings › Connection › External Device Manager.
6. Use Alexa or Google Assistant
Link the TV once in the Alexa or Google Home app, then say “Turn on the living room TV” or “Volume up”.
7. Get a replacement or universal remote
A genuine Samsung remote pairs or works straight away; universal remotes work too, but need setup codes. See Samsung TV remote replacement for how to pick one.
