Charge or replace the batteries. Then reset the remote: take the batteries out, hold Power for 8 seconds, put them back. Pair it again: point it at the TV and hold Return + Play/Pause for more than 3 seconds. If the TV itself seems stuck, unplug it for 60 seconds. Until it works, Kliky controls the TV from your phone.
- Power the remote
- Reset the remote
- Pair again
- Restart the TV
What the blinking red light means
The light on a Smart Remote blinks while it tries to reach the TV. Blinking that goes on and on means the Bluetooth link is gone or the battery is too weak to hold it. It is not a fault code.
1. Batteries and charging
Standard remotes take two AAA batteries. SolarCell remotes charge from room light through the panel on the back, and faster through the USB‑C port on the bottom edge. One that has been face up in a dark room for weeks will be out of charge.
2. Reset the remote
Take the batteries out, hold the Power button for 8 seconds to drain it, and put the batteries back. On a SolarCell remote with no removable batteries, charge it and move on to pairing.
3. Pair it again
Stand about a foot from the TV, point the remote at the sensor and hold Return and Play/Pause together for more than 3 seconds. The TV shows a pairing message.
4. Check the TV
Unplug the TV for 60 seconds to clear a freeze. Make sure nothing covers the sensor at the bottom of the screen. If the standard infrared keys (power, volume) work and the rest do not, the remote is working in infrared only and still needs pairing.
Control the TV from your phone meanwhile
A Samsung smart TV on Wi‑Fi accepts a phone as a remote.
- Install Kliky from the App Store or Google Play.
- Connect the phone to the same Wi‑Fi as the TV.
- Pick the TV and choose Allow on the screen. Without a working remote, use the controller button on the TV to select it.
If nothing helps
The remote has probably failed. Samsung TV remote replacement explains which model fits your TV.
Which Samsung remote do you have?
- Standard remote: long, with number keys. It is infrared, takes two batteries and never needs pairing. If it stops, the cause is batteries, a blocked sensor or the remote itself.
- Smart Remote, 2016 to 2020: short, few buttons, a microphone key. Two batteries; Bluetooth for most keys, infrared for power.
- SolarCell Smart Remote, 2021 and later: the same shape with a solar panel on the back and a USB‑C port. It has no batteries to replace.
Only the two Smart Remotes pair, and only they show the “only power works” fault described above.
