Remote control for Chromecast with Google TV
Chromecast with Google TV and its successor, the Google TV Streamer, have a full menu and a voice remote. They accept a phone as a remote on the same network and show a six-digit code the first time you connect.
Kliky gives you directions, Enter, Back, Home and playback, a keyboard for searches and passwords, voice search and app shortcuts.
Use your phone as a Chromecast remote
Google’s own virtual remote is in the Google Home app: tap the Chromecast, then Open remote on iPhone. On Android it is also in the Google TV app under Connect TV. Both need a Google account and the same Wi‑Fi.
Kliky needs no account and keeps the Chromecast next to your other TVs and streaming devices in one list.
Chromecast remote not working or not pairing
Replace the two AAA batteries first. Then hold Back + Home on the remote for about three seconds until its light pulses; the remote is now in pairing mode. If the Chromecast does not pick it up, press the button on the back of the Chromecast to start pairing from its side, or unplug it for a minute and try again.
Lost Chromecast remote
If the Chromecast is on Wi‑Fi, a phone on the same network controls it at once. The Google TV Streamer can make its remote ring: press the button on the back of the streamer and the remote plays a sound for 30 seconds. The newer voice remote also works with Chromecast with Google TV as a replacement.
If the Chromecast is offline, the TV’s own remote can often steer it through HDMI‑CEC, which is enough to open the network settings.
Volume and power on the Chromecast remote
Those buttons control your TV or soundbar and are set up under Settings › Remotes & Accessories › Set up remote buttons. From a phone, volume is passed to the TV over HDMI‑CEC, so that has to be enabled on the TV.
Older Chromecasts without a remote
The original Chromecast, Chromecast 2 and 3 and Chromecast Ultra have no menu to navigate, so there is nothing for a remote to control. You send video to them from your phone. Kliky’s Cast and Screen Mirroring features do that.
