Replace the two AAA batteries. Then hold Back + Home for about three seconds until the light on the remote pulses, which starts pairing. If the Chromecast does not find it, press the button on the back of the Chromecast, or unplug the streamer for a minute. Meanwhile your phone works as the remote with Kliky.
- Replace the batteries
- Start pairing
- Restart the streamer
1. Batteries
Two AAA batteries. A weak pair typically shows as missed presses and a voice button that does nothing before the remote stops entirely.
2. Pair the remote again
Hold Back and Home together for about three seconds. The light at the bottom of the remote starts to pulse: it is in pairing mode. The device should show a pairing message within a few seconds.
3. Start pairing from the Chromecast
Press the small button on the back of the Chromecast with Google TV to put the Chromecast itself into pairing mode, then press Back and Home on the remote. On a TV with Google TV built in, pair remotes under Settings › Remotes & Accessories.
4. Restart
Unplug the Chromecast or the TV from power for a minute. Plug the Chromecast into the wall adapter, not a TV USB port, which may not supply enough power.
Only volume or power not working
Those buttons control the TV or soundbar and are set up separately under Settings › Remotes & Accessories › Set up remote buttons.
Use your phone as the remote
With the device on Wi‑Fi, a phone on the same network replaces the remote.
- Install Kliky from the App Store or Google Play.
- Connect the phone to the same Wi‑Fi.
- Pick the device and type the six-digit code shown on the TV.
Google’s own virtual remote is in the Google Home app and, on Android, the Google TV app.
If the remote is lost, not broken
A Google TV Streamer can ring its remote: press the button on the back of the streamer and the remote plays a sound for 30 seconds.
