The usual Firestick remote replacement is Amazon’s Alexa Voice Remote (3rd generation), which works with nearly all Fire TV Sticks, Cubes and Fire TV sets and adds TV power and volume. The Pro adds a remote finder and backlit keys. If the Fire TV is on Wi‑Fi, Kliky replaces the remote today.

Which one fits your Fire TV
- Fire TV Stick, Stick Lite, Stick 4K, 4K Max: any current Alexa Voice Remote. Upgrading a Stick Lite to the standard remote adds TV volume and power buttons.
- Fire TV Cube: Alexa Voice Remote or Pro.
- Insignia, Toshiba, Pioneer and Amazon Omni Fire TVs: an Alexa Voice Remote works for the Fire TV interface. Remotes sold specifically for Fire TV smart TVs add number and input keys, which matter if you use an antenna or cable box.
Are third-party Firestick remotes worth it?
They are cheaper and usually pair the same way, by holding Home. The common complaints are missing or unreliable voice search, shorter range and no TV controls. For a spare remote in a guest room they are fine. As the main remote, Amazon’s own is the safer buy.
No purchase needed: use your phone
A Fire TV on your Wi‑Fi can be controlled from a phone on the same network. Kliky gives you navigation, playback keys, a keyboard and voice search, and needs no Amazon account.
It is also the practical way to bridge the days until a new remote arrives, and the way into Settings to pair the new one.
Pairing the new remote
Insert batteries and hold Home for 10 seconds near the Fire TV. If the Fire TV does not pick it up, add it from Settings › Controllers & Bluetooth Devices › Amazon Fire TV Remotes. Full steps: how to pair a Fire TV remote.
Before you buy: is the remote really dead?
- Put in fresh alkaline batteries.
- Hold Home for 10 seconds near the Fire TV to pair again.
- Unplug the Fire TV for a minute, then reset the remote: Left + Menu + Back for 12 seconds.
If the light on the remote never blinks through any of this, buy a new one. The full steps are in Firestick remote not working.
Checking compatibility with your Fire TV model
Current Alexa Voice Remotes pair with the 2nd generation Fire TV Stick and everything newer, including the 4K, 4K Max, Lite and Cube. The model number printed on your stick tells you which one you own; the table is in which remote each Fire TV uses. For a Fire TV smart TV, choose the remote made for TVs if you want channel and input keys.
