When LG ThinQ cannot find the TV, put the phone and TV on the same Wi‑Fi, turn off VPN, and allow Local Network (iPhone) or Nearby devices (Android). On the TV, turn on LG Connect Apps or TV On With Mobile, then restart TV and router. Kliky connects without an LG account.
1. Same network
Compare the Wi‑Fi name on the phone with Settings › General › Network on the TV. Guest networks and VPNs hide the TV from the phone. If the router gives its two bands different names, put both devices on the same one for setup.
2. Phone permissions
On iPhone: Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network › ThinQ on. On Android: allow Nearby devices and Location. ThinQ cannot scan the network without them.
3. Settings on the TV
Look under Settings › General › Devices › External Devices on newer webOS, or Settings › Connection › Mobile Connection Management on older versions, and turn on the options that let a phone find and wake the TV: LG Connect Apps, TV On With Mobile or Mobile TV On.
Also turn off Quick Start+ and turn it on again if the TV vanishes from the app after standby.
4. Restart both
Unplug the TV and the router for a minute. Plug in the router first, wait for Wi‑Fi, then the TV. In ThinQ, remove the TV and add it again.
Use another remote app meanwhile
An LG TV accepts remote apps other than ThinQ over the same network.
- Install Kliky from the App Store or Google Play.
- Connect the phone to the same Wi‑Fi as the TV.
- Pick the TV in the list and accept the prompt on the TV, or type the PIN it shows.
The physical remote not working either? See LG Magic Remote not working.
