On the Fire TV open Settings › Controllers & Bluetooth Devices › Other Bluetooth Devices › Add Bluetooth Devices, put the keyboard or mouse into pairing mode and select it. For typing alone you do not need hardware: the keyboard in a phone remote app such as Kliky types straight into the Fire TV.
- Open Bluetooth settings
- Start pairing
- Select the device
Pair a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse
- On the Fire TV open Settings › Controllers & Bluetooth Devices.
- Choose Other Bluetooth Devices, then Add Bluetooth Devices.
- Put the keyboard or mouse into pairing mode, usually by holding its Bluetooth button.
- Select it on the TV. A keyboard may ask you to type a code and press Enter.
You need a working remote or a phone app to reach this menu the first time.
What a keyboard is good for
Arrow keys move, Enter selects and Esc goes back. Typing works in search boxes, sign-in screens and browsers. If typing is all you want, your phone already does it: select a text field on the Fire TV and open the keyboard in the remote app.
When you need a mouse
Fire TV’s own menus and apps from Amazon’s store are built for a remote and need no pointer. A mouse matters for apps made for touchscreens and installed from outside the store, where the remote cannot reach some buttons. A paired Bluetooth mouse shows a cursor in those apps.
The older “Mouse Toggle” apps that faked a cursor with the remote are unreliable on current Fire OS versions. A real Bluetooth mouse is the dependable route.
USB keyboards and mice
A Fire TV Cube and Fire TV smart TVs have USB ports. A Fire TV Stick has only its power port, so a USB device needs an OTG adapter cable, and support varies by model. Bluetooth is simpler.
