Put the phone on the same Wi‑Fi as the Fire TV, turn off VPN, and make sure the Fire TV is awake on its Home screen. Restart the Fire TV by unplugging it for a minute. If the Fire TV has lost its Wi‑Fi, no app can reach it; get it back online first.
1. Same network
The Fire TV shows its network under Settings › Network. The phone must be on that exact network, on Wi‑Fi rather than mobile data, and not on a guest network. Hotel and dorm networks usually keep devices apart, and a phone hotspot needs a second phone for the app.
2. Wake the Fire TV
Switch the TV to the Fire TV’s input and make sure the Home screen is showing. A stick that is asleep, or a TV on another input, may not show the pairing code.
3. Restart it
Unplug the Fire TV from power for a full minute. Use the wall adapter that came with it; a TV USB port can leave the stick underpowered and unstable.
4. The phone
Turn off VPN. On iPhone, allow Local Network for the app under Settings › Privacy & Security. Amazon’s own app also needs you to be signed in to an Amazon account.
Remote and app both not working
This pairing of symptoms points to the Fire TV, not to either controller. It has frozen or dropped off Wi‑Fi. After a restart, check whether streaming apps load. If the Fire TV is offline, use the TV’s remote over HDMI‑CEC or the hotspot method in connect a Firestick to Wi‑Fi without a remote.
Fire TV stuck on the “pair your remote” screen
A new or reset Fire TV asks for a remote before it joins any network, so apps cannot help at that point. You need a Fire TV remote, or the TV’s own remote if HDMI‑CEC passes the keys through.
Pairing with Kliky
Open Kliky, pick the Fire TV from the list and type the four-digit code that appears on the TV. No Amazon account is needed.
