Press the button on the TV (under the logo, on the bottom edge or on the back) to open a small menu, and choose Input or Source. No such option? If the TV is on Wi‑Fi, switch input from a phone with Kliky. Or simply turn on the device you want to watch: with HDMI‑CEC, many TVs jump to its input by themselves.
1. Use the button on the TV
Nearly every TV has at least one physical button. Where it is and how it works:
| Brand | Where the button is | How to change input |
|---|---|---|
| Samsung | Back lower right, or under the front bezel | Press to open the menu, move to Source |
| LG | Under the LG logo | Press to open the menu, short presses to Input, hold to select |
| Sony | Under the logo or on the back, with + and − | Press Power until Input shows, then + or − |
| Vizio | Back, lower corner | Press the Input button repeatedly |
| TCL, Hisense, onn. | Under the logo | Press to open the menu and step through inputs |
| Insignia, Toshiba Fire TV | Under the bottom edge | Press the Power/Input button to open the list |
With a single button, the pattern is almost always the same: short presses move, a long press or a pause selects.
2. Change input from your phone
A smart TV on your Wi‑Fi takes an input command from a phone on the same network.
- Install Kliky from the App Store or Google Play.
- Connect your phone to the same Wi‑Fi as the TV.
- Pick the TV in the list and confirm on the TV if it asks.
Open the input or source key in the remote and pick the HDMI port. This needs the TV to be online; a TV that was never connected to Wi‑Fi will not appear.
3. Let the device switch the TV (HDMI‑CEC)
Turn on the console, streaming stick or cable box you want to watch, or press Home on its remote. If HDMI‑CEC is enabled, the TV switches to that port by itself. It is on by default on many TVs. Unplugging the other HDMI devices can also leave the TV with only one active input to show.
If the TV has no input button at all
Some TVs have only a power button. Then the options are a phone app (TV on Wi‑Fi), HDMI‑CEC, a voice assistant already linked to the TV, or an infrared universal remote. On older sets, the menu button plus the volume or channel buttons act as arrows: open Menu, find Source or Input, and step to HDMI.
