To change TV volume without a remote, look for volume buttons on the back or bottom edge, or press the single button to open a menu with Volume. If there is none, a phone remote such as Kliky changes it over Wi‑Fi. A cable box, console or soundbar can also change its own volume.
1. Buttons on the TV
- Vizio and older TVs: separate Volume + and − buttons on the back.
- Sony: press Power until “Volume” shows, then use + and −.
- LG: open the menu with the button under the logo and choose Volume; joystick models tilt left and right.
- Samsung: the controller under the bezel or on the back; tilt or press for volume.
- TCL, Hisense, Roku TVs, Fire TVs: many models offer only power and input from the button.
2. Your phone
For TVs whose button has no volume, this is the practical answer.
- Install Kliky from the App Store or Google Play.
- Connect your phone to the same Wi‑Fi as the TV.
- Pick the TV in the list and confirm on the TV if it asks.
Volume keys in the app change the TV’s own volume on smart TVs, Roku TVs and Fire TV smart TVs.
3. The device you are watching on
A cable box, soundbar or AV receiver has its own volume and its own remote. A Roku voice remote or an Alexa Voice Remote controls TV volume once set up; see use a Roku or Firestick remote with your TV.
4. A voice assistant
If the TV is linked to Alexa or Google Home, “volume up on the TV” or “set the TV volume to 20” works. This has to have been set up before the remote went missing.
