Which Toshiba remote do you have?
Toshiba Fire TV remote: Alexa button, TV power and volume, and on most versions channel and live TV keys. Bluetooth, paired to the TV.
Older Toshiba remote: number keys, infrared, no pairing. These belong to sets sold before Toshiba moved to Fire TV.
Fixing the Toshiba remote
Replace both batteries, then point the remote at your phone’s front camera and press a key. A flash on the phone screen means the remote sends infrared; a voice remote may flash only on Power.
