A flashing green light on a Roku remote means it is in pairing mode and looking for a Roku. If it keeps flashing, unplug the Roku for a few seconds, wait for the Home screen, and hold the pairing button (or Back + Home) for 5 seconds close by. No light at all means dead batteries.
What the light is telling you
| Light | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Flashing green | Pairing mode: looking for a Roku | Keep it near the Roku and wait up to 30 seconds |
| Flashes, then stops, still not working | Pairing failed | Restart the Roku, then start pairing again |
| No light when you hold the pairing button | No power | Fresh batteries, or charge a rechargeable remote |
| Slow flashing while on the cable (Voice Remote Pro) | Charging | Leave it; the light turns solid when full |
When it keeps blinking and never pairs
- Unplug the Roku from power for about 5 seconds and plug it back in.
- When the Home screen appears, restart the remote: take the batteries out, put them back, or on a rechargeable remote hold the pairing button for 20 seconds.
- Hold the pairing button for 5 seconds, or Back + Home on remotes without one, until the light flashes.
- Hold the remote close to the Roku. A Streaming Stick behind the TV pairs more reliably on the HDMI extender Roku supplies.
A voice remote pairs with one Roku at a time. If you have two, make sure the other one is unplugged while pairing.
Use your phone until it pairs
A Roku that is on Wi‑Fi can be controlled from a phone on the same network, and you can also start remote pairing from Settings › Remotes & devices that way.
- Install Kliky from the App Store or Google Play.
- Connect your phone to the same Wi‑Fi as the TV.
- Pick the TV in the list and confirm on the TV if it asks.
