To get a TV out of store or demo mode, find Usage Mode, Home/Store Mode or Store Demo in its system settings and choose Home. Samsung asks for a PIN, by default 0000. A Roku TV needs a factory reset, then “Set up for home use”. Without a remote, use the TV button or a phone remote.
Where the setting is, by TV
| TV | Where |
|---|---|
| Samsung | Settings › General › System Manager › Usage Mode › Home Mode (PIN 0000) |
| LG | Settings › General › Home/Store Mode › Home Mode (under Devices › TV Management on newer models) |
| Vizio | Menu › System › Reset & Admin › Store Demo: Off |
| Hisense (Google TV, Android TV) | Settings › Device Preferences › Usage Mode or Retail Mode |
| Roku TV (TCL, Hisense, onn.) | Factory reset, then choose “Set up for home use” |
Without the remote
A store-mode TV is usually not on your Wi‑Fi, so start with what needs no network:
- The button on the TV. On many LG models, holding the button for about 20 seconds shows a “Demo Mode: Off” message. On single-button Samsung and TCL models the button menu reaches Settings on some sets.
- Roku TV: press the recessed Reset button on the back for about 15 seconds. During setup choose home use. Setup needs a remote or an Ethernet connection and a phone; see connect a Roku to Wi‑Fi without a remote.
- USB keyboard or mouse on Samsung, LG and Google TV sets, to walk the menus.
- Infrared universal remote that lists your brand. It is the dependable option for an open-box TV.
If the TV is already online, a phone on the same Wi‑Fi opens the same settings:
- Install Kliky from the App Store or Google Play.
- Connect your phone to the same Wi‑Fi as the TV.
- Pick the TV in the list and confirm on the TV if it asks.
