Try the default first: 0000 on Samsung, LG and Vizio (some LG models use 1234). A Roku PIN is reset at my.roku.com under your account. A Fire TV PIN is reset on Amazon’s PIN page, which the TV points you to after a wrong entry. Samsung has a reset sequence on the remote; a Vizio that refuses 0000 needs a factory reset.
Default PIN and reset, by TV
| TV | Default | If you changed it and forgot |
|---|---|---|
| Samsung | 0000 | With the TV on, on a standard remote press Mute, 8, 2, 4, Power. On a Smart Remote press Volume, then Volume up, Return, Volume down, Return, Volume up, Return. The PIN returns to 0000 |
| LG | 0000 (1234 on some) | In Settings › General › Safety, highlight Reset Password, press Channel up twice, Channel down once, Channel up once, then enter 0313 as the master PIN |
| Roku and Roku TV | None | The PIN belongs to the Roku account. Sign in at my.roku.com and update it under PIN preference |
| Fire TV | None | After a wrong entry the TV shows a code and Amazon’s PIN address. Open it on a phone, sign in and set a new PIN |
| Vizio | 0000 | There is no PIN recovery. A factory reset clears it |
| Google TV | None | Profile and kids PINs are reset with the Google account password from the lock screen |
Samsung and LG change these sequences between model years. If yours does not respond, the manual for your exact model lists the current one.
Without the remote
Roku and Fire TV PINs are reset on a phone or computer, so no remote is needed for that part.
To type a PIN on the TV itself, a phone remote on the same Wi‑Fi works like the plastic one and has number keys:
- Install Kliky from the App Store or Google Play.
- Connect your phone to the same Wi‑Fi as the TV.
- Pick the TV in the list and confirm on the TV if it asks.
The Samsung reset sequence relies on the original remote’s buttons. If that remote is gone, an infrared universal remote that lists Samsung sends the same keys.
