Only some remotes can ring. Roku Voice Remote Pro: say “Hey Roku, where’s my remote?” or use Ping Remote in the Roku app. Alexa Voice Remote Pro: say “Alexa, find my remote”. Google TV Streamer: press the button on the back. For any other remote, use your phone with Kliky while you search.
Roku
The lost remote finder is in the Roku Voice Remote Pro (both editions) and the remotes of some Roku TVs and the Roku Ultra.
- Say “Hey Roku, where’s my remote?” if hands-free voice is on.
- In the Roku app: Devices › your Roku › the menu next to the remote › Ping Remote.
- On a Roku Ultra and Roku Pro Series TV, press the find remote button on the device itself.
The remote chimes for up to a minute. Press any button on it to stop.
Fire TV
Only the Alexa Voice Remote Pro has Remote Finder.
- Say “Alexa, find my remote” to an Echo device or the Alexa app.
- Open the Fire TV app and tap the Remote Finder icon on the Remote tab.
The remote has to be within about 30 feet of the Fire TV it is paired with, and the Fire TV must be powered from a wall adapter.
Google TV Streamer
Press the button on the back of the Google TV Streamer, say “Hey Google, find my remote”, or use Find my remote in the Google Home app. The remote plays a sound for 30 seconds. The remote that came with a Chromecast with Google TV has no speaker.
If your remote cannot ring
Samsung, LG, Vizio, standard Roku and standard Fire TV remotes have no finder. Search where remotes actually end up: lost TV remote has the list. Until it turns up, a phone on the same Wi‑Fi does the job:
- Install Kliky from the App Store or Google Play.
- Connect your phone to the same Wi‑Fi as the TV.
- Pick the TV in the list and confirm on the TV if it asks.
