To program a Philips universal remote, turn the TV on, hold SETUP until the red light stays on, press TV, and enter the four-digit code for your TV brand. If no code works, press POWER repeatedly after SETUP and TV until the TV turns off. A smart TV on Wi‑Fi needs no codes with Kliky.
- Turn the TV on
- Enter setup
- Choose the device
- Enter the code
Method 1: direct code entry
- Turn on the TV.
- Hold SETUP until the red light stays on, then release.
- Press and release the TV button. The light blinks once and stays on.
- Type the four-digit code for your TV brand from the code list. The light turns off after the fourth digit.
- Test Power and Volume. If they do not work, repeat with the next code for that brand.
The code list is in the booklet that came with the remote and on Philips’ support site under your remote’s model number, which is printed inside the battery compartment.
Method 2: auto code search
- Turn on the TV.
- Hold SETUP until the red light stays on, then release.
- Press and release the TV button.
- Point the remote at the TV and press POWER. The remote sends ten codes; the light blinks once for each.
- If the TV is still on, press POWER again to try the next ten. When the TV turns off, the code is found. Follow your manual’s step to save it.
The search can take several rounds. It only works with devices that can be switched on and off by remote.
When no code works
- Replace the batteries and make sure nothing blocks the TV’s infrared sensor.
- Check you pressed the right device button; codes are stored per button.
- Streaming sticks such as Roku Streaming Stick and Fire TV Stick have no infrared receiver, so no universal remote code will ever control them.
Replacing the remote of a Philips TV
Match the replacement to the TV’s software. A Philips Roku TV takes any Roku TV remote or Roku voice remote. A Philips Google TV or Android TV uses its own Bluetooth voice remote, or an infrared universal remote for the basics. The TV’s model code is on the label on its back.
Any of these TVs, once on Wi‑Fi, can also be controlled from a phone. See the Philips TV remote page.
